About This System
The IADLEST Information System is an Internet based information system developed by Ray Franklin of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. It is the next step in the organizations electronic information sharing endeavors begun in 1992 with the unanimous endorsement of an organizational BBS system.
The nature of the Web systems approach is to allow distributed maintenance of local information within a comprehensive and unified central information structure. Each state's standards and training agency is able to independently provide information relevant to their particular operation.
The system was originally hosted on a test basis by the Academic Computing Services Division of the Department of Information Resources of Towson University located in Baltimore County, Maryland, and later by the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Web Services Unit in Pikesville, Maryland.
In 1998, federal funding was secured to establish and maintain an advanced information and communication system. Entitled POST-Net, the system now provides dedicated equipment and transport capabilities allowing enhanced public Internet and private intranet services.
