Large Truck and Bus Traffic Enforcement Training

In partnership with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, IADLEST is proud to facilitate instructional workshops for a new FMCSA commercial vehicle safety initiative entitled, Large Truck and Bus Traffic Enforcement Training.

This four-hour block of instruction emphasizes the importance of having municipal, county, and state law enforcement officers actively engaged in enforcing both the moving and equipment violations they observe that are associated with large trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. With more officers actively observing and enforcing these traffic laws, the ever increasing number of serious injury and fatality crashes involving a CMV can be reduced.

This training program has already been delivered several times in eight states and is currently being delivered in eight other states that represent the highest national percentage of fatality and serious injury crashes involving commercial motor vehicles.

  • Texas
  • California
  • Missouri
  • Oklahoma
  • Mississippi
  • Arizona
  • Illinois
  • Tennessee

However, IADLEST will work with any agency, regardless of its location, towards scheduling the training in their respective area.

In addition to the core curriculum, the training also prepares attendees to deliver the training material to other law enforcement officers and traffic safety advocates. The “Train-the-Trainer” portion of the class provides each student with the information and material necessary to effectively deliver the course to others within the attendee’s agency, neighboring agencies, or others within their respective state.
