About this CD

This CD is a reality due to the efforts of the IACP’s Police Psychological Services Section. Lead by the chair, Dr. Audrey Honig, chief psychologist for Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and assisted by Dr. Kevin Jablonski, chief psychologist for the Los Angeles Police Department, and Dr. Scott Allen, chief psychologist for the Miami-Dade Police Department, the Section compiled and organized the wealth of information included here. We owe a debt of gratitude to them for their drive and perseverance in bringing this project to fruition and all of those who were willing to share and contribute their materials, including:

  • California Highway Patrol
  • California POST
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation, Behavioral Science Unit
  • Florida Regional Community Policing Institute at St. Petersburg College
  • Los Angeles Police Department
  • Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
  • Miami Dade Police Department

We are indebted to EEI Communications of Alexandria, Virginia, in particular John O'Brien, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Vincenzo Barranca, Electronic Media Director, and Moon Kim, Interactive Art Director, for their graphic and design efforts. EEI leadership, when approached, immediately understood the importance of our effort, and offered their services pro bono to complete the CD for national distribution.

We thank the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs', Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), in particular Deputy Director Jim Burch, Associate Deputy Director Pam Cammarata, Senior Policy Advisor Steve Edwards, and Policy Advisor Linda Hammond-Deckard, who offered BJA's support to reproduce and disseminate copies of the CD to law enforcement agencies nationwide. Without their help, we would not have been able to get this critical prevention message into the hands of those who need it most.
