Vermont Criminal Justice Council Investigator
The Vermont Criminal Justice Council (VCJC) is seeking a full-time investigator for our Pittsford, VT campus to conduct investigations related to unprofessional conduct allegations per the Council's direction.
The applicant must be a conscientious, thorough, self-motivated individual with proven investigative skills. The Investigator must have a strong understanding of ethics and boundaries, the ability to communicate and work in a team setting, have excellent writing, time management, strong computer, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of victim awareness, risk intervention strategies, and case planning practices. Additionally, the ability to maintain a professional rapport with local law-enforcement agencies and community partners is required. The position also will be responsible for compliance monitoring with agencies regarding state mandated policies.
The work will be performed in an office setting with remote and field work required. Schedule hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a variety of settings, but much of the work is performed in the field, including visits to police stations, town offices, and individual homes. This position is responsible for a large geographic area covering the whole state of Vermont. Stress may be involved in confronting law enforcement officers who are under investigation. Frequent travel in all types of weather is expected. May require weekend and irregular hours during work assignments. Some risk of physical harm is present, although incidents are not frequent.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) or more years of professional experience conducting investigations.
Special Requirements
Current certification as a full-time law enforcement officer by the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council.
A current valid driver’s license is required.
Must pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position.
Residency within Vermont is required.
